IS 536 Enterprise Cloud Computing (Formerly Is 536)
Summary
Cloud Computing is an emerging paradigm for consumption and delivery of IT based services, based on concepts derived from service catalog and on-demand service with shared resources, availability, elasticity, and pay-as-you-go. As enterprise adoption of cloud computing accelerate, by compelling advantages of higher efficiency and lower costs, rapid deployment and elastic scalability, organizations must have a strategy and plan for moving to the cloud. The course is designed for students to gain a solid understanding of the concepts, architecture, service management and business impact of cloud computing. Students will examine the pros and cons of implementing a cloud computing platform, including the benefits and the security risks, and students will learn about cloud computing standards and best practices. Course Objectives: Students will be able to: ? Discuss the evolution of the cloud and its ability to use computing resources efficiently. ? Describe the leading service providers in cloud computing area, the products and services offered, and common platforms and applications. ? Architect and deploy applications ?in the cloud?. ? Design, build, launch, and deploy an application that utilizes the leading cloud service provider platforms and tools.

Grading
Grading Lab 50% Homework 30% Midterm 10% Final 10% No late homework will be accepted after one week from the due date. Any late homework will lose 20% credit. If you can not attend the test, you must present certain document to show that you have a valid reason. Exam material will be drawn from lecture notes and homework assignments.
