(STEM)STEM Program
This new Center connects students with industry professionals, creators, and experts-in-residence. It houses both DePaul Originals Game Studio, where students produce high-quality game experiences delivered on commercial platforms, and the interdisciplinary design PUSH Studio, which partners with industry professionals and social impact organizations to apply human-centered design methods to emerging technology challenges.
The IRL and IRL2 are student-driven makerspaces that encourage the pursuit of thinking through making. With locations in the Loop and Lincoln Park, IRL houses all types of creative equipment, from traditional woodshop tools to a variety of state-of-the-art fabrication tools, like 3D printers, thermal formers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and more.
The School of Design Talks series invites leading designers who have created innovative responses to the personal, local, and global challenges of the 21st century. Past guests have included Dale Dougherty (CEO/Founder of Make Media), Scott Starrett (Brand Advisor to the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez campaign), and Antionette Caroll (Founder/CEO of the Creative Reaction Lab).
Our students have many opportunities to study abroad, from exploring designers’ relationships to society and the natural world in Scandinavia to touring cultural sites and game and animation companies in Japan.
DePaul was named one of Graphic Design USA’s top design schools of 2024, a list which highlights schools and programs that prepare talented students for creative careers in the real world. The industry publication also named School of Design students Liam Guiritan and Magda Wilhelm “students to watch.”
DePaul University continues to solidify its position as a powerhouse in gaming in 2024, with both the undergraduate and graduate game design programs securing national recognition once again this year.
The DePaul User Experience Association (DUXA) is a student-led organization that aims to help members better understand current industry standards as well as collaborate, network, learn, and get involved with the UX community. It is one of several student groups where School of Design students can meet peers with similar fields of interest.
