Ron Eltanal received his B.A. from Williams College and his M.F.A. from the University of Southern California. He has written, directed, produced, shot or edited award-winning films that have screened at numerous festivals and competitions, including Sundance, Cannes, Torino International, LA Shorts and the Student Academy and Emmy Awards. Additionally, he has directed a feature film and music videos, written feature screenplays, and co-founded a non-profit theatre company. His short film "Nostalgic," starring Chicago film and theatre legend Mike Nussbaum, has screened or won awards at over 30 film festivals and competitions worldwide.
His most recent project, "Tenure," is a TV series he wrote and is currently in development. The series was accepted into the IFP Episodic Lab fellowship program and the TorinoFilmLab Extended Series, and the pilot script won the Script Pipeline First Look Competition in the hour-long category. The show may or may not be semi-autobiographical.
At DePaul, he has served as Chair of the Production/Digital Cinema Program from 2011-19, and co-chair in 2021-22. From 2017-20, he chaired the college's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee, and served as a college Diversity Advocate from 2018-2023.
