Bio and Research Information

Ilisa Aaron is a writer, producer, and blogger with three decades of experience in the entertainment industry. She has a BS in Advertising from the University of Illinois, an MFA in Screenwriting from DePaul University (2021), and additional training in writing from The Second City and UCLA Extension. Ilisa began her career as a producer’s assistant on independent films before segueing to Disney, and then transitioned to television publicity at Sony Pictures Television. Her love of storytelling led her to work as a story analyst for Showtime and HBO. At Netflix, she was among the original team of film and television “taggers” who analyzed content, identified microgenres and provided targeted recommendations to viewers. Ilisa co-produced the award-winning family film “Thrill Ride,” currently available on multiple streaming platforms. Among her awards as a screenwriter, Ilisa is a finalist in ScreenCraft’s Comedy competition, semi-finalist for a Humanitas Fellowship, and winner at Cinequest. Her blog, “Pushing Fifty and a Stroller,” explores the absurdity of having a late-in-life baby. She is also the director of The Mason Parrish Foundation, a 501c3 that raises money for pediatric brain tumor research in memory of her son who passed away in 2011.
