Bio and Research Information

Brian has been teaching at DePaul University since 2010. Outside of teaching he is a filmmaker, editor, and videographer. Since 2019 he has supervised the post-production of dozens of short film documentaries as part of the CHA+DePaul Youth Partnership’s Program in Documentary Filmmaking. Several of these films have screened at Apple’s “Anyone Can Create” Youth Showcase as well as the Black Harvest Film Festival, No Malice Film Festival, and Fresh Perspectives Youth Showcase. Starting in 2022, Brian Mentored as lead Faculty for the CHA+DePaul Youth Partnership’s Become a Filmmaker Program by teaching a broad overview of the process of narrative filmmaking from Pre-Production to Production to Post-Production to high schoolers in Chicago. The program also produced the short film "I am Not Your Token" with the help of professionals, students, and participants alike. The short film was written by one of the youth in the program. He also supervised two student produced short films "Pulse" and "Petition" for the program's one-week film challenge. "Pulse" also played at Apple’s “Anyone Can Create” Youth Showcase in 2022. He is currently supervising the Post-Production on "Mass Teleportation Authority" a short film he also edited. He also directed and edited the short film "Spark and Fade" which played at festivals across the country where it won the FirstGlance Film Festival Philadelphia's Online Short Film Contest. As a result of winning the online contest, Spark and Fade made its California Premiere at the Regal LA LIVE Stadium in downtown LA as part of FirstGlance Film Festival's LA circuit. Brian is also a freelance editor and DP. He has worked for clients out of Chicago, Milwaukee, Nashville, and Dallas as well as other places nationally.
