Hello! My name is Shikha Patel, I am grad student here at DePaul university. I am currently pursing an MFA in animation. I was born in India and raised in East Africa where I got to experience a diverse range of religions and cultures that inspired me to go into storytelling. I got my bachelor’s in digital media with a game and animation concentration with a minor in film studies when I first came here to USA. Later I did internship programs with an NGO and local churches in the area to gain more experience working as an independent party. As I wanted to enhance my artistic skills and look into more industry requirements and big studios, I found DePaul University to have all the resources I needed to reach my goal as an artist. DePaul not only has the required technological equipment but also veterans from the current industry as professors who guide you throughout your journey as an artist and storyteller. I benefit greatly from the resources offered at the library databases and artist talks/panels every quarter. DePaul not only elevates my professional skills but also helps me network better. Additionally, I am part of the WIA, ACM SIGGRAPH Student Chapter and Animation Lodge clubs here at DePaul.
