CDM's Jarvis Student Center for Innovation and Collaboration is an 8,000 square-foot open space where students and faculty come together to ideate and innovate. The center focuses on multidisciplinary professional learning and industry partnerships fueled by emerging technologies and projects dedicated to societal needs and innovation.
Students have access to our 60,000-square-foot professional production facility at Cinespace Studios Chicago, high-end editing suites and mixing studios, industry-standard equipment, and a host of post production and animation resources.
In this new 11,000-square-foot suite of innovative spaces, students receive hands-on, real-world experience to become the engineers who will lead the next revolution in computing - one that will make smart devices and intelligent systems ubiquitous, safe, secure, and immensely impactful on society.
Students and faculty collaborate in our research labs and centers, which are equipped with the advanced technology, software, and experimental tools to support their research endeavors.
The IRL and IRL2 are student-driven makerspaces that encourages the pursuit of thinking through making. With locations in the Loop and Lincoln Park, IRL houses all types of creative equipment, from traditional woodshop tools to a variety of state-of-the-art fabrication tools, like 3D printers, thermal formers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and more.
The Print Lab can print student design work on HP m712 and Epson P5000, Pro7900, P9000, and XP15000 printers. It also contains an assortment of paper craft and cutting supplies, binding machines, and scanners. Prints can be requested online or in-person during regular office hours.
CDM students have access to hundreds of workspaces, equipped with the latest technology, in labs and classrooms across both the Loop and Lincoln Park Campuses.
