Dr. Huzaifa’s teaching interests include robotics, control, and dynamics and his research interests include legged locomotion, social robotics, control systems, and dynamics. He has many research publications to his credit and several academic honors and awards, including Best Talk on Controls and Decision at CSL Student Conference 2019, and Alumni Teaching Fellowship at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign . In his free time, he enjoys engineering outreach, reading books on history and biographies, being outdoors and singing.

Assistant Professor, School of Computing
Sharief Oteafy is an Assistant Professor at the School of Computing, DePaul University, where he founded the Next Generation Networking (NexGeN) lab. His current research focuses on dynamic architectures for interoperability in the Internet of Things, Information Centric Networks, and managing the proliferation of Big Sensed Data (BSD). He also co-leads the team working on the Tactile Internet architecture, under the IEEE P1918.1 Standard Working Group, and is the lead technical editor of that standard. He is actively engaged in the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), and is a professional member in both IEEE and ACM. Dr. Oteafy co-authored a book on “Dynamic Wireless Sensor Networks”, published by Wiley, presented 50+ publications and delivered multiple IEEE tutorials on IoT and BSD. He is the General chair of the 48th IEEE LCN 2023 conference, and served as its TPC Chair in 2022. He co-chaired a number of IEEE symposia (Globecom, ICC, CSCN), in addition to a number IEEE and workshops in conjunction with IEEE ICC and IEEE LCN. He is currently an Associate Editor with IEEE Communications Magazine, and on the editorial board of Wiley’s Internet Technology Letters.
