To help students who need a computer to effectively participate in academic activities, CDM offers a Laptop Loaner Program. The program is intended for students who have no access to computer technology and have limited financial resources. The computers available for loan include 15-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, Windows laptops, and WacomOne tablets.

How to Request a Laptop

The program is meant for students who have no access to computer technology and have limited financial resources. Students in need of a laptop or a WacomOne tablet can submit an online reservation in WebCheckout beginning on the start date of each quarter (as noted below). Laptops will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Pick-up and returns will be processed through the Loop Equipment Center.

Students will log in at the WebCheckout Patron portal using their Campus Connect credentials, and select the Laptop/Drawing Tablet Loaner Program to start a reservation. For questions regarding the WebCheckout reservation system, please contact the Loop Equipment Center (cdmequipment@cdm.depaul.edu, phone: 312-362-5733).

Period of Loan

The standard period of loan for the CDM laptop loaner program is one academic quarter. A small number of laptops will be available for a short loan period of two weeks. Longer loan periods may be accommodated by special request. Requests for multiple quarter loans will be granted based on student need and available equipment.

Eligibility

Eligible students must be enrolled in a CDM undergraduate or graduate program. Students must be in good academic standing and enrolled in at least one CDM course during the academic quarter in which the equipment will be used. A small set of laptops will be reserved for students enrolled in School of Design (SOD) programs and taking specific SOD courses.

Acceptable Use

Students must comply with the DePaul policies related to the use of software, technology, and data. The CDM computer equipment (e.g. laptops, Cintiqs) is intended for educational purposes only and should be used for DePaul related course work. Students may not use DePaul CDM computer equipment for hired work, or in the service of any other company, organization, or person, whether for pay or otherwise. Students may install software on these laptops as needed for academic work.
