Probation
CDM students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) to stay in good academic standing. Failure to meet the guidelines and return to good academic standing within the time frame specified may result in dismissal from the University.
Undergraduate Students
CDM follows the University policy for academic probation found in the
Undergraduate Academic Handbook. Students on probation receive notification after the grading deadline. Any specific criteria they must meet in order to continue enrollment in the following term are clearly stated. Criteria for continued enrollment may include, but are not limited to:
- Meeting with an academic advisor
- Development of an academic improvement plan
- Limit to the number of credit hours that may be taken the next term
- Enrollment in specific courses
Undergraduate students who are dismissed and wish to return to DePaul University should consult with an academic advisor regarding the criteria required for readmission. In general, CDM follows the University policy for dismissal/readmission found in the Undergraduate Academic Handbook; however, additional criteria for readmission may be required in individual cases.
Graduate Students
Master's Degree and MFA Degree students are required to meet the GPA requirements for their declared program. If a student's cumulative GPA falls below the minimum requirements the student may be allowed to complete an additional 16 credits or 3 quarters (whichever comes first) to return to good academic standing. If at the conclusion of this time period the cumulative GPA remains below the required minimum, the student may be dismissed from the program.
Students who have been dismissed can apply for readmission through the standard readmission process no sooner than a quarter after their dismissal (excluding Summer). The readmission application must include a personal statement indicating evidence of changes in their situation that indicates they are prepared to successfully meet the requirements of the program. If approved, the student will be subject to the program and concentration requirements in place in the enrollment term of readmission. Decisions are final.
