Bio and Research Information

Dr. Kenny Davila received his M.Sc. in Computer Science (2013) and Ph.D. in Computing and Information Science (2017) degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY. He also worked as a post-doc at CUBS at the University at Buffalo between 2017 and 2020. He received his B.E. in Computer Systems Engineering (2009) from Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where he worked as a research faculty between 2020 and 2023. His research interests include Document Analysis and Recognition, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision and Information Retrieval. His main research works are related to Lecture Video Analysis, Chart Mining, and Mathematical Information Retrieval. He has created and released multiple open-source tools for annotating charts and lecture videos. He is one of organizers of the CHART-Infographics competition (ICDAR 2019, ICPR 2020, ICPR 2022). He is a co-author of award receiving papers at ICFHR 2018, CBDAR 2019, and ICDAR 2019. He has served as area chair for EMNLP. He has also been a program committee for multiple computing conferences including SIGIR, ICDAR, ICFHR and AVSS. He has been part of the organizing committee for ICDAR 2023 (Competition Chair) and ICDAR 2024 (Poster/Demo Chair).
